Consumer Advisory

Proposition 65

What is Prop 65?

In 1986, California voters approved the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (known as “Proposition 65”). Proposition 65 is a "Right to Know" statute; its purpose is to make sure people are aware, before they purchase, that the product they come into contact with contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.

The State of California has listed over 900 chemicals that must be disclosed under Prop 65. The list, which is updated annually, includes a wide variety of chemicals that can be found in many consumer products.

Why is there a warning label on my T3 box?

T3 provides the warning label when needed to comply with Proposition 65 and to inform consumers that the product contains chemicals on the State of California’s Prop 65 list. For example, T3 products that carry the Prop 65 label include components made with brass, which contains small but detectible amounts of lead—an element included on the Prop 65 chemical list. Please see our Hot Rollers or Beauty Showers for more information regarding the applicability of Prop 65 to specific T3 products.

All T3 products meet or exceed the requirements of applicable product performance and safety industry standards.

I don’t live in California. Why does my T3 product have this label?

T3 products are sold throughout the United States and around the world. It would be considerably complex to determine which products will be ultimately sold or brought into California. Therefore, to ensure compliance with Proposition 65 requirements, we have decided to include these labels on applicable products, regardless of where they might be purchased or sold.

Where can I find more information about Prop 65?

The State of California provides Proposition 65 information on the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment website.

FCC

Where applicable, T3 products have been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against interference in a residential installation. Some T3 products generate, use and can emit radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation.

If these products do cause interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the product off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

  • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
  • Increase the separation between the product and receiver.
  • Connect the product to an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
  • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
All applicable T3 flat irons and curling irons comply with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

No change or modification to the products shall be made without the express written approval of the “responsible party” as defined in the FCC’s rules.
